The Century of the Self and The Revolution of Truth

The current corrupt UK Govt. regime in power is mocking scientists and messing about with official data. They seem to want to destroy confidence in all institutions that threaten their world view and serve the public. It is almost impossible to be too cynical about the people currently running the UK.

The revolution that we shall see from the current battle shall be a peaceful one, a Revolution of Truth.

“In a time of universal deceit – telling the truth is a revolutionary act” – George Orwell (1903-1950).

It is always interesting that over-simplifying in conjunction with attempts to shift truth and deny factual reality are usually illustrative of attempts to alter thinking processes with specific or general intent(s) in mind. It has become a second nature PR trick in so many different areas and modes of persuasion.

As a counter to those who attempt to control from the moral unprincipled wastelands of the political right but do not always have the weaponry and techniques to do so, here is a little copy-paste on Public Relations. Call it "Marketing", one of the silliest word-inventions in the history of 20th Century commerce and advertising. You can bet that if something sounds really very silly, like "Public Relations", someone, somewhere decided to camouflage something more sinister, like "The Psychological Application of Propaganda Techniques", in order to sell more - Stuff.
"Ivy Lee, the man who turned around the Rockefeller name and image, and his friend, Edward Louis Bernays, established the first definition of public relations in the early 1900s as follows: "a management function, which tabulates public attitudes, defines the policies, procedures and interests of an organization.. followed by executing a program of action to earn public understanding and acceptance." However, when Lee was later asked about his role in a hearing with the United Transit Commission, he said "I have never been able to find a satisfactory phrase to describe what I do." In 1948, historian Eric Goldman noted that the definition of public relations in Webster's would be "disputed by both practitioners and critics in the field." According to Bernays, the public relations counsel is the agent working with both modern media of communications and group formations of society in order to provide ideas to the public's consciousness. Furthermore, he is also concerned with ideologies and courses of actions as well as material goods and services and public utilities and industrial associations and large trade groups for which it secures popular support.

Edward Bernays: The Father of Public Relations and Architect of the Consumer Mind The Century of the Self:

The revelatory, brilliant and educative Adam Curtis film "Century of The Self" is a fantastic and entertaining exposition of Bernays Freudian techniques and concepts. These formed the core of the business and commercial principles and activities which have arisen since the late 1940s, as certain materially wealthy societies moved from "Needs" to "Wants". The developed mass "Wanting" needed to be psychologically primed and encouraged in order to continue to maintain consumption of the often unnecessary, within and by those societies. We are now where that ultimately ends. Watching many younger people avoiding that fearful treadmill is very nice and I expect we shall see more and more of it now. and in the relatively near future .

As far as obtaining an understanding of The Psychology of Money, Consumer Society  and Materialism" is concerned It is like receiving a full 3 year degree level of education packed into just 4 hours:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=eJ3RzGoQC4s
